3 hurt after Ferris wheel fall in Washington state

The two women and the boy fell 15 to 18 feet and landed on the ride's metal flooring.

One victim in the May 19, 2017 Ferris wheel accident, a 59-year-old woman, is in critical condition.

The three people were all in the same cart on the Ferris wheel ride, when it abruptly flipped, sending the three people up in the air heading backwards towards the ground, according to Bill Beezley, with the East Jefferson Fire Department.

One witness, Laura Lewis, had been on a different ride with her two kids at the festival when she said she saw one of the buckets in the Ferris wheel flip and dump three people out.

Picture shows the Ferris wheel where three people fell 30 feet, authorities say. Both of these victims have non-life-threatening injuries and were both up and walking. The boy was released from the hospital on Thursday night. "She grabbed him just in time and let him fall on top of her", she said.

Those responding to the scene were told that the cart was faulty.

The Ferris wheel was immediately shut down and taped off, but the rest of the carnival continued to go on.

The victims are a 59-year-old woman, a 47-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy.
